Current Project Status

The March 2009 public meeting was an important step in the completion of the Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Assessment for the portion of the Campbellsville corridor from the Columbia Bypass north along existing KY 55, then eastbound on new alignment to US 68 northeast of Campbellsville.  Maps presented at that meeting depict various alternatives developed to date.  From these, a short list of promising alternatives was chosen for more detailed engineering and environmental documentation.

Funding for the Heartland Parkway currently covers the Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Assessment for the section presented in March 2009.  Funding for additional phases (right-of-way, utility relocation and construction) has not been appropriated for this section to date.

The Heartland Parkway Leadership Committee met in the Chowning Executive Dining Room at Campbellsville University Wednesday for the purpose of discussing and reviewing maps on the Kentucky Highway 55 Stage Two Conceptual Alternatives. Pictured looking over the maps are, from left facing the camera:  Clem Haskins, Team Taylor County Executive Director Ron McMahan, Columbia-Adair County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Sue Stivers, Columbia Mayor Pat Bell, KYTC District 4 Project Manager John Moore, KYTC District 4 P. E. Patty Dunaway and Lebanon Mayor Gary Crenshaw. The next public meetings will be November 10 in Adair County and November 17 in Taylor County. For locations and times on the meetings or for more information, contact Ron McMahan at Team Taylor County, ron@teamtaylorcounty.com.
